Matthew 12:34 says, “Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” What we say literally reveals our heart. This is why Jesus said that by our words we can either be “aquitted” or “condemned” (v.37) when we stand before Him. Itʼs important to understand that our words reveal to what extent we truly have sought after His wisdom. Our words reveal our heart.
Many of Godʼs greatest Bible characters were not perfect and suffered with life as we do today. I began thinking what would be the cause of their troubles? After pondering on this thought for a bit, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that issues were mostly traceable to the tongue. Jesus, makes it pretty clear that we must be careful with our words. Matthew 12:36 is says, “I tell you that men will have to give an account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.” This is a very sobering word to His church and it would behoove every Jesus follower to obey Christʼs words!
Always speak good things into others, speak encouraging words, quote biblically positive words, uplifting words, helpful words and you will be amazed as to what will happen! “ A man finds joy in giving an apt reply – and how good is a timely word! (Proverbs 15:23) Remember, God has given us two ears and one mouth!
