Rest and Reward Revelation 14:13

The Bible absolutely leaves no doubt that there is life after death. Our human existence is created for eternity. Our earthly life is but an overture, a prelude of the reality to come. Blessed or happy , to be envied are the dead “who died in the Lord.” They are people who during their earthly life believed in Christ as their only Savior and Lord! When the time came for them to exchange their temporal for the eternal, their work is done forever. They finally have blissful rest! Think of it, all the troubles and tensions of their earthly life are behind them. They have arrived at their eternal destination. Home at last!

The Scriptures paint a scary alternative for people who do not seek God in their life time, “ and the smoke of their torment rises forever and ever. There is no rest day or night” (Revelation 14:11)

What a contrast! The dead who die in the Lord will not only enjoy the eternal absence of unrest, pain, and sorrow, but they will also be rewarded: Their deeds will follow them .”

We humans are free to live according to our own choices. But we have to keep in mind that there will be a future settling of accounts. All will justly be rewarded according to our deeds. The measuring staff will be administered according to our attitudes toward the Lord Jesus Christ.

True rest awaits only those who during their life on this earth take God seriously. Without Christ, there is no rest, in this present time or in the future! John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” Romans 10:9, “ If you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead you will be saved.” My friend, if Christ should return for you today, are you ready?

Grace to you always, Your friends & pastors, Larry & Nadine ______________________________________________________________________
